dancemakers - Absences
This modern dance show is Serge Bennathan's final choreography before stepping down after 16 years as artistic director at the end of this season. The ensemble toured not only nationally but also internationally (Dresden, Germany among others). Music by Montreal composer Bertrand Chénier and Toronto pianist Eve Egoyan.

"We are bound to live a life of abandonments in order that we may reach the purest state, our essence. This essence in turn becomes our parting gift - the final mark we leave to the souls of the living"

After-Party dancemakers - the party of good byes

Old Distillery District
Today the Distillery district is not only Toronto's only heritage district; it is also Canada's largest centre for arts and culture - home & the heart of dancemakers. During the 1800's the Gooderham & Worts Distillery was a huge manufacturing district in the city of Toronto and the largest distillery in the British Empire.
The distellery was founded in 1832 by brothers-in-law William Gooderham and James Worts. The Gooderham & Worts Distillery produced millions of gallons of distilled whiskey and spirits in the 1800's. After the Great War prohibition set in and business began to slow. After over a century the distillery ceased operations in 1990.
